WHEN EACH STITCH DOES ITS JOB

Construction stitches join fabric. Finishing stitches control raw edges. The slip stitch closes seams so cleanly you can't find the thread from the right side.

  • The running stitch loads three or four passes onto the needle at once to speed up light seams and gathering.

  • The backstitch retraces each stitch into the last one, mimicking a machine line without the machine.

  • The slip stitch hides inside folded edges so hemming a skirt by hand leaves no visible ridge.
